A Modern Renaissance Man

Welcome to my website! I am a Portland, Oregon, musician, artist and teacher. On this website you can find information about my music, my visual art, my classes and workshops, and even find out about the Bambazoo kazoos I make from bamboo harvested from my yard.

As a musician, I play a number of instruments as a solo artist and in a number of popular Portland bands. The primary projects I am involved with are Hurqalya, with a jazz sound influenced by music from all corners of the Mediterranean; Smut City Jellyroll Society, playing early jazz and blues from the prohibition era; Krebsic Orkestar, a brass band under the direction of Alex Krebs playing high energy Balkan Gypsy music; and Underscore Orkestra, playing Balkan, Klezmer and swing jazz and led by Jorge Kachmari. I am one of the musicians in the Live Entertainment Program at Portland International Airport, and also play at private and public events.

My paintings and one of a kind artist books have been displayed in shows around the country and have been purchased by a number of private and public collections. I am represented in Portland by Butters Gallery.

I have taught art,  bookbinding and music at various schools, conferences, studios and out of my home. You can contact me for information about classes and lessons.
